What is Transvaginal Mesh?

Transvaginal mesh is a medical device that was used on a number of patients who suffered from bladder prolapse, pelvic prolapse or other related conditions. In certain instances, the organs around a woman's bladder and pelvis begin to shift out and encroach on the vaginal wall. This is most likely to happen as a result of multiple pregnancies, but it can happen to anyone.

When women begin to develop prolapse, a surgical sling can be used to help keep all of the organs and body parts where they need to be and to prevent them from encroaching elsewhere in the body. Transvaginal mesh is one example of the surgical mesh used. Unfortunately, transvaginal mesh has now been determined to have serious side effects that can, in many cases, necessitate an additional surgery.

If you have been treated with transvaginal mesh, you should strongly consider getting legal help to better understand your legal rights. You may be entitled to compensation for your emotional, physical and financial losses caused by the mesh.
